On July 19 2016 Steve went to Home Depot to buy materials for a small roof repair. Upon lowering his tailgate to load, he immediately felt strong pressure against his back. An F250 truck had come backing in crushing him against his own tailgate.According to bystanders, they all began screaming and the driver of the F250 began to pull forward, dropping Steve abruptly to the ground.
He awoke in Loma Linda Hospital to a severe injury, his pelvis was fractured in 5 different places. This included damage to other male organs. He was operated on as an emergency. Normally, pelvis's are not operated on but because of the intensive fractures the orthopedic surgeon had no choice.
His Femur also had serious bruising and damage. He Pelvis is now being held together by screws and rods. He was told by his team of physicians it will take him 6 months and he will hopefully make a full recovery. The black bar you see in the pictures remains on him for the next 6 weeks.
Steve is 65 years old, he works odd jobs as a handyman and does roof repairs. He is now left with no income for at least 6 months. He rents a room for 400.00 a month and just bought a used truck 2 months ago a 2005 Chevy he has 302.19 a month car payment and 106.00 a month insurance. payment Steve served in u.s. Army Jan 1968 to Sept. 1971. He is still working at 65 years old, scared of becoming homeless and now afraid his truck may be repossessed. He had not financed anything in over 25 years, but recently had to replace his truck when it quit running. He is a great man with a very giving heart, who has always helped others. If we could help bless this man with the help he needs if would definitely help in his recovery. At this time, we do not even know if the man who hit him even had any type of insurance.
